Beeville, TX

Location of proposed dog park:

400 N. Washington St.
Beeville, TX 78102

About this community:

Beeville is located in the Coastal Bend region of south Texas, between Corpus Christi and San Antonio. Our population has increased to 13,669 after dropping since the mid-1990s following the closure of the Chase Field Naval Air Station. Notable former Beevillians include Gutzon and Lincoln Borglum, father and son, who were the sculptors of Mount Rushmore. Though they were not originally from Beeville, both of their wives were and lived here during its sculpting.

Why this community deserves a Bark for Your Park™ grant:

There are multiple reasons why the City of Beeville community deserves a PetSafe Bark for Your Park grant. First, there is not an existing dog park within the City of Beeville. In fact, there is not a dog park anywhere within 48 miles of Beeville. A dog park here would provide a location for dog owners in our community and residents of the County and surrounding communities to have a place to bring their pets for exercise and socialization. Secondly, community residents have initiated a grassroots initiative for a community dog park, and the number of residents supporting this initiative continues to increase. They are continuing to hold fundraisers to help fund the dog fund. Finally, the City is committed to providing the location and in-kind services for construction of some of the components of the dog park and ongoing maintenance for the dog park.

How this community would use a Bark for Your Park™ grant:

In conjunction with locally raised donations, grant funds would be used for the purchase and installation of fencing and sidewalks for our dog park. In addition, the city is committed to providing site grading, establishing grass, parking lot construction, installing water fountains for the dogs (and humans, too), dog park signage and pet waste bag dispensers. Finally, following construction, the city will provide maintenance of the dog park facility.
