Natalie and Emma will celebrate Valentine's Day at the dog park. How will you and your pet celebrate?
Oh, Valentine’s Day. It seems you either love (pun intended) or hate it. Regardless of your feelings of the holiday, you have to admit – when you have a pet, every day is filled with love. So, how do you celebrate the day of love with your pet? After all, they are likely to just shred any flowers you give them and chocolate is definitely out of the question.
We came up with a few ideas to get your imagination going before tomorrow.
1. Treat: As you enjoy something sweet today, why not give them something they will enjoy too? Maybe they have been eyeing a Lickety Stik or another yummy snack at the pet store. There is no better day to indulge them. Look at those puppy dog eyes, you just can’t say ‘no’ any longer.
2. Play: Emma loves her treats, don’t get me wrong, but not as much as she loves me joining her in the floor for a game of tug o’ war or taking her to the dog park to chase all her friends. This afternoon, we’ll be making a trip to the park for her to find a Valentine all her own. I’ve seen the way she’s been looking at this beagle. You could also purchase a new toy for your pet if they are more independent players. The Magic Mushroom is Emma’s favorite.
3. Pamper: Do you have a dog that loves water? Give them a long, warm bath today. You know they’ll need it after that trip to the dog park. Fill the tub up with lukewarm water and wash your pet with mild shampoo. You can towel dry your pet or use the blow dryer. After your dog is dry, give them a massage. I know this may seem silly but dogs can really benefit from them.
What will you be doing with your pet tomorrow?
Even if you snuggle up on the couch at the end of a long day and give them a few extra belly scratches, they’ll love you for. After all, “true love is having a puppy lick your face after you have left them alone all day.” Happy Valentine’s Day!
