Is Your Containment System Ready for Spring?

By Natalie Lester, PetSafe Brand Marketing Specialist

Containment systems can take the worry out of the summer months so you and your pet can enjoy what really matters. Make your yard their play pen today!

Warm weather is well on its way and for some parts of the world, it’s already here. If you’re like me, you can’t wait to get in the back yard, dig into the garden, or make a splash in the pool this summer. Your dog is probably thinking the same thing.

But, before you get too caught up in your day dream, think about your containment system. Your summer vacation may quickly turn dark and gray if you don’t take care of your containment system and your pet gets out. As you get rolling on that spring cleaning, use these five tips to refresh your containment system.

1. Test your system to be sure there are no wire breaks. Simply connect your Receiver Collar to the Test Light Tool and take a brief stroll around your boundary to be sure it is all working correctly.

2. Refresh your batteries. You want to be sure your transmitter and receiver collar batteries are working. If you need to replace them, consider purchasing a battery plan. You can call Customer Care at 1-866-738-4379 to discuss the options.

3. Replace the nylon collar strap on the Receiver Collar. You know your pet is feeling extra spring-y with the warmer temperatures, help him look it too in a bright new collar.

4. Work in a few retraining sessions for your dog. You know how easy it is for you to slide into old routines during the winter when you’re cooped up inside. But, as you start to spend more time outdoors, spend a few of those moments reminding your pet of how the system works. He will quickly remember and you can relax knowing he understands.

5. Consider purchasing a Pawz Away Outdoor Pet Barrier. There are undoubtedly places in your yard you may want your pet to avoid like your trash can, garden, or bird bath. This pet deterrent works just like your containment system to keep your pet away and the rock disguise helps it blend into any landscape. With these few spring cleaning tasks, your containment system will be ready to go for the season. If you don’t have a containment system, let this spring and summer be the year your dog gets the freedom they deserve.

What summer/spring activity is your dog most looking forward to in your yard?
