We recommend Guardian® GPS for yards ¾ acre or larger to ensure every dog has plenty of room to roam inside their boundary. Like all GPS systems, the Guardian® boundary line works best with some buffer space to allow for natural fluctuation of GPS signals. Unlike competitors, however, our patented AccuGuard™ technology provides accuracy within a few feet on average to give you the world's most accurate GPS fence technology. A ¾ acre or larger property ensures the buffer does not limit the area the dog gets to safely explore. For properties smaller than ¾ acre, shop our non-GPS wireless fences to unleash joy for your dogs!

When placing digital fence posts in the app to create your boundary, ensure they are at least 25 feet away from off-limits areas like busy roads. Dense overhead tree coverage, like heavily wooded areas, may sometimes impact signal quality. If there's a power outage or your Wi-Fi network goes out, the collar will continue to operate as intended and keep your pet safely within the boundary.

Guardian® GPS + Tracking is a pet fence system and location tracker that uses the My PetSafe® app and a GPS collar for your dog. You set up the GPS pet fence by downloading the app, connecting the collar to your Wi-Fi, and "drawing" a custom boundary with up to 32 digital fence posts on a map of your property in the app. The boundary is then saved to the collar. The collar continuously sends and receives GPS position data via local cellular networks, allowing you to track your pet in real time. The Guardian® GPS Connected Customizable Fence is a subscription-free system for creating a custom boundary without real-time tracking on your property. The Guardian® GPS + Tracking Dog Fence offers real-time tracking and requires a subscription for its use. Both systems are suitable for properties larger than 3/4 acres and use AccuGuard™ technology, the world's safest GPS dog fence technology.

The static correction used in our collars is a safe, consistent reminder for your dog to stay inside the safe boundaries you've created. As with any training collar, make sure you follow the training guide and remove the collar daily (no dog collar should be worn for more than 12 hours at a time.) Our adjustable static correction options are designed to get your pet's attention if they notice a distraction luring them outside their boundary, such as a squirrel. We offer 10 levels of static plus tone and vibration so you can find the correction settings that work best for your dog.

If your dog tries to cross the set boundary, the collar responds with a warning tone followed by a safe, static correction or vibration. This correction captures your dog's attention and reminds them to turn back safely into the boundary area. Unlike competitor fences, Guardian® GPS + Tracking will not correct your dog while they're returning to safety inside the boundary. Additionally, you will receive a push notification on your phone informing you that your dog left the fence boundary.

Training your dog on their new boundaries ensure they know where it's safe to be and where not to go, keeping them safely in your yard or wherever you choose to set up a boundary. Training will teach your dog exactly where they are free to run and play. Our helpful step-by-step training guide will give you everything you need to teach your dog safe boundaries, typically within 2 weeks.

A cellular signal is required to receive live-tracking updates and push notifications. It is not required for your collar’s GPS fence to remain active. Wi-Fi is required for setup but not continued use.

Guardian® GPS + Tracking Dog Fence is only available in the United States

Just as your smartphone requires a data plan to access the 4G network, a subscription is necessary to use the LTE network for the collar. (The collar even has its own SIM card, just like your phone!) The collar uses the LTE network (cellphone towers) for data transmission to provide real time updates through the My PetSafe® app. Without a subscription, the collar could still communicate with GPS satellites, but not with the app. The subscription ensures that you can harness the full potential of GPS, not only protecting your dog at home, but creating custom fences and tracking their real-time location wherever you go. We do offer a simpler GPS fence option that does not require a subscription, but you won't be able to track your pet. You still get the same unbeatable AccuGuard™ fence technology, but only in your yard at home.

Unlike competitors, our GPS fence boundaries will remain active even if you lose cell service. The real-time tracking feature does require an active LTE cell signal, however.
